On Thursday, June 1st, the MADCC hosted its first annual Research Symposium. The event was held in Ann Arbor at the North Campus Research Complex in collaboration with our statewide partners at Michigan State University and Wayne State University. This year’s theme “Beyond Amyloid” attracted roughly 100 researchers to learn more about current dementia research. Those who attended and presented varied in field of expertise, years of experience, and university affiliation. In addition to poster presentations, there were several oral presentations including those from keynote speakers, Dr. Suzanne Craft and Dr. Karen Hsiao-Ashe.
Following the Research Symposium on Thursday, the MADCC hosted a half day Health and Aging Fair. It was open to all community members interested in learning more about community health organizations, current research in dementia, and resources for seniors. In addition to a vendor expo, we heard from MADC staff members about research and wellness programs through our center. Visiting speaker, Dr. Suzanne Craft gave a presentation addressing enhancing brain health as we age.
