Rinne Lewy Body Dementia Team Attends International Conference in Las Vegas

Center staff, Stephen Campbell and Renee Gadwa, and Rinne LBD Initiative Support Group Facilitator, Mary Whitlock, traveled to Las Vegas last week for the International Lewy Body Dementia Conference. The conference, hosted by Cleveland Clinic and the Lewy Body Dementia Association at Caesar’s Palace, featured two tracks – a scientific track focused on what’s happening around the world in LBD research, and a patient/carepartner track focused on topics such as medication management, biomarker research, care partner education and support, and living a full life with LBD.

The conference kicked off with a welcome address from Susan Schneider Williams, widow of Robin Williams, who shared the story of their journey to finding a diagnosis and managing the symptoms of LBD, as well as her work on increasing awareness of LBD and education of health care professionals since her husband’s death.  Later that evening, Kevin Cronin, REO Speedwagon lead vocalist, surprised attendees at a welcome reception and shared of his mother’s LBD diagnosis in an uplifting speech before performing for the crowd.
