Moment-to-moment individuals providing care for a person with dementia are
expected to meet his/her ever-changing needs in a complex yet compassionate way.
For the person living with dementia, unmet need can manifest itself in a variety of
ways. As the disease progresses and verbal skills diminish, the key to meeting their
need is understanding and interpreting their behavior. By pooling resources and
knowledge, conference attendees will identify new ways to approach, communicate,
understand and connect with people living with dementia, so that we can better
stay present in the moment and meet their needs, providing a higher quality of care.
