The Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter and Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center are proud to present our annual Spring Conference, “Breaking Down Barriers: Working Toward Inclusive Dementia Care”, on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Washtenaw Community College Morris Lawrence Building.
The conference is geared towards family and professional care partners to explore ways we can create more inclusive and equitable care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Conference speakers will cover topics that address barriers faced by diverse communities in dementia care and healthcare broadly. Caregivers will share their personal stories, and share strategies they used to overcome obstacles and attain resources to address cultural barriers.
Speakers will touch on issues related to:
LGBT individuals and their care partners,
people with developmental disabilities and dementia,
and black/African-American families and caregiving.
