Since 1986, the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives has coordinated the University of Michigan’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium — one of the largest celebrations of the life and legacy of MLK – sponsored by colleges and universities in the nation. In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the University of Michigan Detroit Center hosts an annual simulcast of the symposium keynote program from Ann Arbor. In addition to the simulcast, the Detroit Center also hosts a lunch and panel discussion surrounding the symposium theme, while incorporating a Detroit perspective. The MADC will be attending the event to provide support and resources.
