UM Detroit Center’s Eye on Detroit Series

November 2, 2016 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Two controversial proposals have been placed on the City of Detroit November ballot in an effort to spread the wealth of Detroit’s comeback. The initiatives, known as Community Benefit Ordinances, aim to require developers to employ City residents, as well as other benefits to the communities in which they operate. As the first program of the Detroit Center’s Eye On Detroit series, a panel will identify the potential gains and pitfalls to the passing of such a regulation. Panelists include U-M Professor Mark Rosentraub, Detroit City Councilman Scott Benson, and former MI State Rep. Rashida Tlaib.

The program will take place on Wednesday, November 2 from 6-7:30 PM in the Ann Arbor Room of the Detroit Center. There is no admission charge and we will provide refreshments and free parking in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s parking structure located behind the Detroit Center. To register, go to Eye on Detroit.
